3 massages that will help you sleep

Sometimes – despite your best efforts – you just can’t seem to nod off. That’s why it’s important to have an arsenal of tricks up your sleeve – just in case you can’t get to sleep.

Obviously, one of our favourite ways to unwind and relax is by having a pre-bed massage.

Everyone’s different (and we’re biased) which is why we wanted to champion three very different massage treatments that can help with different sleep complaints.

Deep tissue

Stiff, tight muscles keeping you up at night, or causing you to wake up mid-slumber?  A deep tissue massage before bed might be just what you need.

This treatment concentrates on the often neglected deeper muscles. It aims to reduce tension and increase blood flow in the muscles to ease chronic pain. This will kick start the body’s natural healing process and therefore reduce pain in the body on an ongoing basis. Winning!

When was the last time you spent an evening without staring at a screen? Our always-on lifestyle means switching off and unwinding is hard – which makes drifting off even more difficult.

Our Relaxing massage does pretty much exactly what it says on the tin – it can help to reduce tension and clear your head. Long, repetitive strokes are used to calm the nervous system, thus decreasing the stress hormone, cortisol. Expect a drop in tension and a clearer head that’s free from distracting thoughts.

Follow up your treatment with a large glass of water (and a warm bath, if you’ve got one) to help you catch some serious shut-eye.

It might seem strange that a massage that uses your feet as the main focus can help you get a much more restful night. But it’s true – our Reflexology treatment is the go-to option if you regularly struggle to fall asleep or if you have a sleep disorder.

After warming up the area with gentle massage, your therapist will target pressure-points in your feet, lower legs and hands, to indirectly treat different areas in the body. This technique provides some much-needed pain relief whilst reducing anxiety and encouraging natural healing.

This treatment will help you to feel relaxed, calm and balanced – a perfect time to get into bed and hunker down. You’ll drift off into a deep sleep in no time!
